This automobile was built for and by the "A" altered NHRA world record holder Wally Knoch out of Detroit. The car and Wally Knoch are featured in several automobile books that include "Popular Hot Rodding" as well "HEMI-The Ultimate American V8" by Robert Genat. The car was discovered in a warehouse in Detroit and restored to its former glory as it was originally built for Wally Knoch. This Barracuda has the very rare 426 A990 factory race HEMI engine with 13:1 compression. It is a complete factory engine including the original dual carburetors, distributor, rare factory magnesium intake manifold, massive aluminum "K" cylinder heads and aluminum water pump. The transmission is a special built manual/auto shift body with a 5,000 stall converter and 5.13 gears in the rear end. This combination behind the A990 HEMI is absolutely explosive. The frame certainly is re-inforced to take all the torque this beast puts out. This one-off example was built under Wally's guidance and his exact demanding specifications. This was the most powerful factory produced 426 HEMI back in the day of Chrysler's A990 racing program. Wally Knoch mated this engine for this personal street/strip beast. The car is street legal in Arizona.
